BLUE BELL, Pa., Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that a consortium led by its Brazilian subsidiary has won a contract from Brazil's Pernambuco State Department of Taxation and Finance (SEFAZ-PE) to provide IT services supporting an upgrade of the department's application systems. The contract was signed in the second quarter of 2013 and has an estimated value to Unisys of BRL 8.1 million ( US$ 3.6 million) . Under the terms of the contract, Unisys will provide IT support services for e-Fisco, the integrated system that the Pernambuco state government uses for the collection of taxes, such as those on sales of goods and services and on motor vehicles. Unisys will also develop new tax, financial, accounting and budget features for the 34 subsystems that comprise e-Fisco. In addition, Unisys will provide support services for the department's IT infrastructure, such as technical support for servers and other equipment, database administration and transitional project management. "In recent years, SEFAZ has been required to develop new applications to accommodate integration of some key federal and state government functions, such as a simplified tax system for small companies and an electronic tax billing system," said Ana Paula Serrano, IT Superintendent at SEFAZ. "As a result, the Department has gained valuable experience in using IT resources efficiently while maintaining excellence in delivery of services to citizens. Unisys has assisted us significantly in these initiatives, and we look forward to working with them and the other companies that have played a part in our success as we continue enhancing our infrastructure to better serve the citizens of Pernambuco," Ms. Serrano added. "Unisys has provided IT support and security services to SEFAZ since 2001," said Helcio Beninatto, Vice President & General Manager of Global Managed Services for Unisys Latin America. "We are delighted to lead the consortium in this important new project to deliver IT services that sustain and enhance a system benefiting millions of people."
