Sprint Awarded Global Merger And Acquisition Deal Of The Year U.S. Award By The American Lawyer

Sprint (NYSE: S) has been awarded the Global M&A Deal of the Year U.S. Award by The American Lawyer for the SoftBank transaction.

The American Lawyer recently announced the winners of its inaugural Global Legal Awards in 30 categories, naming Sprint’s legal team including Sprint’s lead M&A counsel, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, winner of Global M&A Deal of the Year: U.S. Award winners were honored at the ALM Global Legal Awards dinner on September 23 at Gotham Hall in New York City.

Additionally, Sprint and SoftBank legal teams were awarded the grand prize Global M&A Deal of the Year award at the ALM honoree dinner, as the top matter recognized out of the 11 regional M&A winners.

“Our work on the SoftBank deal represents great effort among a cross functional team of in-house and outside lawyers,” said Charlie Wunsch, senior vice president and general counsel at Sprint. “And we are pleased to have our work recognized by ALM.”

The inaugural awards “honor the deals or disputes of 2012 that best exemplify the challenges of transnational legal practice,” according to The American Lawyer. The magazine spotlighted 30 matters across four categories - Disputes, Finance, M&A and Citizenship - that represented key cross-border work in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America.
