Tim Cook Joins Twitter

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Apple ( AAPL) CEO Tim Cook has joined Twitter, on the day the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c officially went on sale.

Apple's senior vice president of marketing, Phil Schiller, retweeted the message, adding credence that the account is in fact, legitimate.

Twitter has verified that the account is legitimate, with the blue check mark, notating "Verified Account," next to Cook's profile.

Lines outside Apple Stores today were exceptionally long, as customers clamored for the new devices, particularly the gold iPhone 5s, which is now back ordered on Apple's website. Ship dates for the major carriers all show a ship date of October for the gold iPhone 5s. Space grey and graphite are showing availability in seven to 10 business days.

Availability on the lower-cost iPhone 5c is better, with Apple's Web site showing an availability to ship of one to three business days for all colors and all carriers. The iPhone 5c is available in white, pink, yellow, blue and green.
