Yandex NV (YNDX): Today's Featured Internet Laggard

Yandex ( YNDX) pushed the Internet industry lower today making it today's featured Internet laggard. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.5%. By the end of trading, Yandex fell $0.50 (-1.4%) to $34.50 on average volume. Throughout the day, 2,238,503 shares of Yandex exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 2,445,300 shares. The stock ranged in price between $34.40-$35.19 after having opened the day at $35.11 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $35.00. Other companies within the Internet industry that declined today were: Deltathree ( DDDC), down 10.0%, SouFun Holdings ( SFUN), down 5.5%, YY ( YY), down 4.5% and Web.com Group ( WWWW), down 4.0%.

Yandex N.V. operates an Internet search engine in Russia and internationally. Yandex has a market cap of $8.2 billion and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 62.5% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are 7 analysts that rate Yandex a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and none rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Yandex as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, notable return on equity, expanding profit margins and good cash flow from operations. Although the company may harbor some minor weaknesses, we feel they are unlikely to have a significant impact on results.

On the positive front, Net Element International ( NETE), up 9.4%, MeetMe ( MEET), up 8.1%, Tremor Video ( TRMR), up 6.0% and Baidu ( BIDU), up 4.8% , were all gainers within the internet industry with Facebook Inc Class A ( FB) being today's featured internet industry leader.
