Facebook Inc Class A (FB): Today's Featured Internet Winner

Facebook Inc Class A ( FB) pushed the Internet industry higher today making it today's featured internet winner. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.5%. By the end of trading, Facebook Inc Class A rose $1.44 (3.3%) to $45.04 on average volume. Throughout the day, 71,416,657 shares of Facebook Inc Class A exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 59,914,400 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $43.11-$45.09 after having opened the day at $43.39 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $43.60. Other companies within the Internet industry that increased today were: Net Element International ( NETE), up 9.4%, MeetMe ( MEET), up 8.1%, Tremor Video ( TRMR), up 6.0% and Baidu ( BIDU), up 4.8%.

Facebook, Inc. operates as a social networking company worldwide. It builds various tools that enable users to connect, share, discover, and communicate with each other on mobile devices and computers. Facebook Inc Class A has a market cap of $80.0 billion and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 63.8% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are 27 analysts that rate Facebook Inc Class A a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 3 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Facebook Inc Class A as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and impressive record of earnings per share growth. However, as a counter to these strengths, we find that the company's return on equity has been disappointing.

On the negative front, Deltathree ( DDDC), down 10.0%, SouFun Holdings ( SFUN), down 5.5%, YY ( YY), down 4.5% and Web.com Group ( WWWW), down 4.0% , were all laggards within the internet industry with Yandex ( YNDX) being today's internet industry laggard.
