NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Mastech Holdings (AMEX: MHH) has been upgraded by TheStreet Ratings from hold to buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, notable return on equity, attractive valuation levels and good cash flow from operations. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows low profit margins.

Highlights from the ratings report include:
  • MHH's revenue growth has slightly outpaced the industry average of 10.0%. Since the same quarter one year prior, revenues rose by 14.3%. This growth in revenue appears to have trickled down to the company's bottom line, improving the earnings per share.
  • The current debt-to-equity ratio, 0.42, is low and is below the industry average, implying that there has been successful management of debt levels. To add to this, MHH has a quick ratio of 1.57, which demonstrates the ability of the company to cover short-term liquidity needs.
  • The company's current return on equity greatly increased when compared to its ROE from the same quarter one year prior. This is a signal of significant strength within the corporation. When compared to other companies in the Professional Services industry and the overall market, MASTECH HOLDINGS INC's return on equity exceeds that of the industry average and significantly exceeds that of the S&P 500.
  • Powered by its strong earnings growth of 64.28% and other important driving factors, this stock has surged by 101.83% over the past year, outperforming the rise in the S&P 500 Index during the same period. Regarding the stock's future course, although almost any stock can fall in a broad market decline, MHH should continue to move higher despite the fact that it has already enjoyed a very nice gain in the past year.
