Hunter Kemper And Alicia Kaye Win 31st Annual Life Time Tri Chicago

Nearly 9,000 pro, elite amateur and first-time triathletes competed in temperatures nearing 90 degrees in one of the world’s largest triathlons on August 25 along the shores of Lake Michigan. This year marked the 31st anniversary of the event and served as the second race in the Toyota Triple Crown Triathlon Series.

Hunter Kemper (U.S.) won the male professional division at 1:50:30.9 while Alicia Kaye (Clermont, Florida) won the female professional division at 2:01:54.9.

In the male professional division, Ben Collins (U.S.) finished second with a time of 1:51:11.3, followed by third-place finisher Stuart Hayes (U.K.) with a time of 1:51:41.6. In the female professional division, Helle Frederiksen (DNK) finished second with a time of 2:02:55.6, while Daniela Ryf (CHE) finished third with a time of 2:06:52.6.

The 2013 Life Time Tri Pro Series cash purse offers $450,000, including $250,000 in individual race awards and an additional $200,000 awarded to Life Time Tri Pro Series champions crowned at the series finale – Life Time Tri Oceanside. With the addition of the Toyota Triple Crown, the overall 2013 Life Time Tri cash purse is $500,000. To qualify for race awards, pros must start at least three events, including the Series finale, Life Time Tri Oceanside, with the top five events counting towards their overall standings. The official finishing times at Life Time Tri Oceanside will serve as a tiebreaker.
