U.S. Bancorp has a market cap of $68.8 billion and is part of the financial sector. Shares are up 16.8% year to date as of the close of trading on Friday. Currently there are 12 analysts that rate U.S. Bancorp a buy, 2 analysts rate it a sell, and 14 rate it a hold.

The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its increase in stock price during the past year, growth in earnings per share, notable return on equity, expanding profit margins and good cash flow from operations. Although the company may harbor some minor weaknesses, we feel they are unlikely to have a significant impact on results.

On the positive front, Pathfinder Bancorp ( PBHC), up 9.5%, Jacksonville Bancorp ( JAXB), up 8.3%, Colony Bankcorp ( CBAN), up 7.3% and Village Bank and Trust Financial Corporatio ( VBFC), up 6.5% , were all gainers within the banking industry with Ocwen Financial Corporation ( OCN) being today's featured banking industry leader.
