Tuesday morning will be busy, with Home Deport ( HD), Best Buy ( BBY), Barnes & Noble ( BKS), TJX Companies ( TJX), and J.C. Penney ( JCP) all reporting earnings.

American Eagle Outfitters ( AEO), Staples ( SPLS) and Target ( TGT) report earnings on Wednesday morning and Hewlett-Packard ( HPQ) is scheduled for after the close.

The Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee meeting will also be on Wednesday, and investors will be trying to pick up any hints of tapering ahead of the September FOMC event.

Thursday morning will feature GameStop ( GME) and Abercrombie & Fitch ( ANF) reporting quarterly results.

Ross Stores ( ROST) and Aeropostale ( ARO) will report after the close.
