Karen And Thomas Monroe, Solera National Bank, Nationally Certified To Work With Military Home Buyers

LAKEWOOD, Colo., Aug. 6, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Solera National Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Solera National Bancorp, Inc. (OTCQB:SLRK), today announced that Karen and Thomas Monroe of Residential Mortgage of Colorado, a division of Solera National Bank, achieved the unique distinction of becoming nationally certified to work with and understand the uniqueness of lending to military borrowers. The Monroes recently graduated from the Certified Military Housing Specialist Course, a national military assistance nonprofit that gives emergency financial support to military and their families. The course is exclusively offered by USA Cares, Inc.

"Karen and I have been in the Colorado Springs market for over 35 years, and have over 50 years of mortgage lending experience between us. We have been assisting military customers with their mortgage loans since we started in the business. The recent training with USA Cares, has made us acutely aware of assistance for Veterans in need during their time of transition," said Thomas Monroe, Vice President, Mortgage Loan Officer, Solera National Bank.

"We are the only national organization offering this type of training," said Peter Giusti, president of USA Cares. "It's important for the lending community to understand and serve our nation's military with the highest standard. They can't do that unless they understand the military's world and language."  This course aims to educate lending professionals on the differences in lending to the military communities by training them on the unique lifestyle circumstances often typical in the military. The course and certification also helps lending professionals make sense of the military's "language," ranking and pay system, all major factors in determining how much a military member can afford to borrow.

Besides educating lenders, the course gives them advice regarding foreclosure prevention in the military community – all for the purpose of better serving military customers and coaching them on how to avoid mortgage delinquencies.
