McAfee today announced that leading research firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned the company in the leaders’ quadrant in its “Magic Quadrant for Secure Email Gateways” as published on July 2, 2013*. Gartner’s research examined vendors who offer secure email gateways solutions which provide protection from email spam and malware, and also provide outbound email content inspection and encryption of emails. According to the report, “Despite the market maturity, companies can't do without SEG solutions. Global spam volumes declined again slightly in 2012 as spammers moved to other mediums, such as social networks, but spam still represents as much as 69 percent of email. Phishing and malware attachments also declined slightly in 2012; however, there is ample evidence that email is the preferred channel to launch advanced targeted attacks.” “We believe our leader’s position in the Magic Quadrant demonstrates how McAfee is providing complete email protection and flexibility for its customers,” said Pat Calhoun, general manager of the network security business unit at McAfee. “Advanced malware and loss of corporate intellectual property are growing problems that can have dramatic negative impact on an organization. McAfee Email Protection defends against the latest email-borne threats with integrated threat defense, data loss prevention technology, pre-built content-based policies, encryption and email continuity, to help organizations who either host their email infrastructure on-site or in-the-cloud.” McAfee Email Protection provides the flexibility to deploy email security in multiple form factors, including appliances (hardware, virtual or blade server), cloud-based or as an integrated hybrid deployment. McAfee email security solutions include McAfee Email Protection, McAfee SaaS Email Encryption, McAfee SaaS Email Archiving, and McAfee Email Security for Servers.
