Colonial Life Launches New Health Care Reform Tool For Employers

Employers have a new tool to help them dig through the complex pile of health care reform legislation to better understand how the new laws will affect them and what they need to do now and going forward.

Colonial Life’s new health care reform microsite provides small business owners, human resources executives and benefits managers simple, straightforward information about the Affordable Care Act’s impending requirements, guidance on decisions they’ll need to make and solutions to help them implement changes.

Making health care reform simpler and understandable might seem like a task that would give even Hercules a hernia, but that’s the goal of these resources.

“The Colonial Life site takes a back-to-basics approach,” said Steve Bygott, assistant vice president, Marketing Analysis & Programs at Colonial Life. “The challenges and questions employers have all point back to one basic solution: benefits communication. The site shows employers how good communication — with them and with their employees — can help with many of their concerns.”

The site features a new video that explains in easy-to-understand terms some of the legislation’s changes and reforms affecting employers and employees. Other sections go into more detail on key topics such as coverage mandates, market reforms, reporting requirements and exchanges.

The site is the latest in a series of resources Colonial Life has created to help employers better understand health care reform and the no-cost communication solutions they can take advantage of. An employer guide to health care reform provisions and a flier on communication solutions also are available through the company’s sales representatives.

“Health care reform brings a lot of changes, but it won’t change the way we help employers communicate benefits information: simply and easily,” Steve said. “Our goal with the microsite and all of these tools is to help customers understand their options, no matter what size business they have or what path they decide to take in this new benefits era.”
