NEW YORK and EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) announced that the Scottish Government has launched a new Newsroom which is accessible across a wide range of mobile devices. The Scottish Government is the first government to use NASDAQ OMX's Corporate Solutions to make it easier for the media and the public to access news information and download material from their mobile devices. The Mobile Responsive Newsroom content includes a multi-media library where supporting audio, video, image and document resources are accessible. In addition to these facilities there is a designated journalist registration area which holds embargoed content, high resolution images and other content. The Newsroom also allows journalists to update personal contact details and register areas of interest. "We are pleased to be able to improve our services," said Carolyne Thomson, Project Manager, Scottish Government Communications. "We recognize the value in being able to deliver Scottish Government news stories to a wide audience and the introduction of these facilities will help us do this." "We are excited to be partnering with the Scottish Government and helping them communicate more effectively with their stakeholders through the adoption of new tools," said Demetrios Skalkotos, Senior Vice President, Corporate Solutions, NASDAQ OMX. "Moreover, mobile is rapidly becoming the preferred way for consuming content and this trend continues to grow. The Scottish Government should be commended for taking a forward approach to solving the challenges it faces in keeping the public and other stakeholders up to date - no matter where they are." The new Newsroom service is a part of a range of media services NASDAQ OMX Corporate Solutions, in partnership with Precise Media Group, can provide under the Scottish public sector collaborative Framework for Media Services which commenced in April 2013.
