CLEARWATER, Fla., July 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced its partnership with LANDesk Software, which acquired Shavlik Technologies earlier this year, to offer Shavlik's products and services to its channel of more than 60,000 resellers. Shavlik, a recognized leader in agentless patch management capabilities, offers two primary product lines: Protect and SCUPDates®. Both are immediately available for purchase through Tech Data's Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) division. "We are pleased to continue offering Shavlik to solution providers through our partnership with LANDesk Software," said Chuck Bartlett, vice president and general manager, AIS Division at Tech Data. "Shavlik's innovative network security solutions and agentless patch management is a value-add in the channel. Through our partnership with LANDesk, Tech Data will continue to enable Shavlik partners to accelerate their revenue and market share growth of network security products." Shavlik Protect is a powerful patch management product for both client and server devices that offers IT administrators agent or agentless flexibility. Shavlik SCUPDates is an add-on offering to Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) that seamlessly expands patching capabilities to include third-party applications. "The continued support of Tech Data will help expand the opportunities for reseller organizations to build a profitable business around patch management and provide customers with effective solutions to their patch-related security needs," said Marshall Smith, vice president, Partnering and Sales Operations, LANDesk Software. "Shavlik's 'Add Water and Stir' approach to IT solutions means that customers can get up and running and see ROI more quickly than with other solutions. We thank Tech Data, such a large player in the distribution industry, for their continued partnership." LANDesk Software acquired the Shavlik product portfolio from VMWare in April 2013. Previously, Shavlik was part of VMware's Protect product family of IT management solutions. LANDesk plans to maintain the Shavlik brand, which will specifically target the small- and medium-size business (SMB) market.
