Marathon Oil Publishes 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report

HOUSTON, June 20, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO) today announced it haspublished its "LivingOur Values 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)Report,"which provides information on the Company'snon-financial performance and its actions to promote greatereconomic, social and environmental sustainability.
Supporting education and health care in Equatorial Guinea
In 2012, Marathon Oil undertook social investment programs focused on education and health care in Equatorial Guinea, where the Company has key base assets. These programs included the construction of two rural schools on Bioko Island and refurbishing a clinic to support public health. Additionally, in its ninth year, Marathon Oil's employee-sponsored Books for Bioko program continued to have a positive impact on primary and secondary students in seven schools on Bioko Island.

The new report reflects Marathon Oil's first full year as anindependent international energy company and continues to highlightthe Company's unwavering commitment to living its long-standingvalues of health and safety, environmental stewardship, honesty andintegrity, corporate citizenship and a high performance teamculture.

For the first time, the new report is available in a digital-only format at,which allows the Company to expand its reporting. Marathon Oil alsohas adopted eight corporate-level commitments covering governance,society, environment and the workplace. For each commitment, thereport outlines progress made in 2012 and primary activitiesplanned for 2013.
