LinkedIn Corp (LNKD): Today's Featured Internet Winner

LinkedIn ( LNKD) pushed the Internet industry higher today making it today's featured internet winner. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.6%. By the end of trading, LinkedIn rose $1.83 (1.0%) to $179.42 on light volume. Throughout the day, 1,588,009 shares of LinkedIn exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 2,234,900 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $177.11-$181.90 after having opened the day at $179.16 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $177.59. Other companies within the Internet industry that increased today were: Net Element International ( NETE), up 16.9%, Limelight Networks ( LLNW), up 4.8%, Global Sources ( GSOL), up 4.0% and Internap Network Services ( INAP), up 3.9%.

LinkedIn Corporation operates an online professional network. LinkedIn has a market cap of $16.3 billion and is part of the technology sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 509.3, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 54.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday. Currently there are 15 analysts that rate LinkedIn a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 13 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates LinkedIn as a sell. Among the areas we feel are negative, one of the most important has been premium valuation based on our review of its current price compared to such things as earnings and book value.
