LinkedIn ( LNKD) pushed the Internet industry lower today making it today's featured Internet laggard. The industry as a whole closed the day down 0.8%. By the end of trading, LinkedIn fell $5.70 (-3.3%) to $168.39 on light volume. Throughout the day, 1,529,614 shares of LinkedIn exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 2,261,400 shares. The stock ranged in price between $168.18-$174.00 after having opened the day at $171.45 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $174.09. Other companies within the Internet industry that declined today were: Friendfinder Networks ( FFN), down 7.3%, Geeknet ( GKNT), down 5.7%, TechTarget ( TTGT), down 5.0% and CafePress ( PRSS), down 4.8%.

LinkedIn Corporation operates an online professional network. LinkedIn has a market cap of $15.6 billion and is part of the technology sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 487.7, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 48.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday. Currently there are 15 analysts that rate LinkedIn a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and 12 rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates LinkedIn as a sell. Among the areas we feel are negative, one of the most important has been premium valuation based on our review of its current price compared to such things as earnings and book value.

On the positive front, Deltathree ( DDDC), down 25.0%, ChinaNet Online Holdings ( CNET), down 4.8%, Vipshop Holdings Ltd ADR ( VIPS), down 4.0% and Bitauto Holdings ( BITA), down 4.0%.
