Groupon ( GRPN) pushed the Internet industry higher today making it today's featured internet winner. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.7%. By the end of trading, Groupon rose $0.21 (3.0%) to $7.15 on average volume. Throughout the day, 14,539,683 shares of Groupon exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 15,306,900 shares. The stock ranged in a price between $6.97-$7.26 after having opened the day at $7.09 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $6.94. Other companies within the Internet industry that increased today were: Internet Initiative Japan ( IIJI), up 9.9%, Selectica ( SLTC), up 7.8%, Phoenix New Media ( FENG), up 7.1% and Facebook Inc Class A ( FB), up 4.5%.

Groupon, Inc. operates as a local commerce marketplace that connects merchants to consumers by offering goods and services at a discount in North America and internationally. The company also offers deals on products for which it acts as the merchant of record. Groupon has a market cap of $4.4 billion and is part of the technology sector. Shares are up 37.9% year to date as of the close of trading on Friday. Currently there are 2 analysts that rate Groupon a buy, 6 analysts rate it a sell, and 15 rate it a hold.
