Though Huang did not offer details on the types of technologies the company might be interested in acquiring, when it comes to hardware, the Journal reported that Huang said, "We will not build things that the market already has... such as smartphones, PCs and tablets."

Nvidia purchased about 500 wireless technology patents in 2012 for an undisclosed sum and it also acquired wireless modem-maker Icera in 2011 for $367 million.
