Video Release -- Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush Delivers Keynote Address At Health Datapalooza IV

WATERTOWN, Mass., May 28, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- athenahealth , Inc. (Nasdaq:ATHN), a leading provider of cloud-based services for electronic health record (EHR), practice management and care coordination, today announced that CEO Jonathan Bush will be a keynote speaker at Health Datapalooza IV, taking place June 3-4 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. Bush will talk about the broken profit motives of health care and the failures of and opportunities for data to make health care work as it should.

Health Datapalooza is an annual national conference born from regulatory efforts to liberate health data. The conference convenes health care executives, startups, academics, government agencies and leadership, to discuss the newest, and most innovative and effective uses of health data for the greater good. Other keynote speakers at this year's event include: athenahealth co-founder and current U.S. CTO Todd Park; HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius; nationally recognized surgeon, writer and public health researcher Atul Gawande; and Cleveland Clinic President and CEO Delos Cosgrove.

Bush will deliver his keynote on Monday, June 3rd at 11:20 a.m. ET in the Regency Ballroom. Those interested in a preview should check out the video below.

Also at Datapalooza, a team of "athenistas" will participate in Code-a-palooza, a code-a-thon in which nine teams will compete for most innovative use of Medicare data to build an app, tool or product that could be used by primary care providers and/or their support staff to improve the quality of care delivery. Winners will be announced on the final day of Datapalooza and stand to win up to $15,000 in cash prizes.

In addition, athenahealth's VP of Product Strategy, Jonathan Porter, will participate in a clinical care track panel titled "The State of the Art: Enterprise Data Use at the Point of Care" on Monday, June 3rd at 3:30 p.m. ET in the Empire Room. Porter joins a panel of data vendors to discuss enterprise-level analytics.

Jonathan Bush, CEO and chairman, athenahealth, said: "Health Datapalooza is a big deal for two reasons—it's an opportunity to share best practices on how vendors, government, and the average doctor use data to deliver better care and reduce costs, and, more importantly, it's a focused occasion to talk about the gaps in data, what's not working, and the need for greater access and transparency. We are looking forward to participating, and sharing successes—and war stories—with our fellow data enthusiasts in order to march steadily toward our ultimate vision to make health care work as it should."
