(Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of energy intelligence software, today announced that it participated in a successful OpenADR Alliance test event using the high-performance PUSH protocol, XMPP. This test event was significant because it demonstrated interoperability of the advanced capabilities of OpenADR 2.0 Profile B, including telemetry and XMPP, which will ultimately help demand response penetrate further into the commercial, institutional, and industrial building market. The event was hosted at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Md. Profile B is designed for high-end embedded devices that support a wide range of demand response services and markets. XMPP is advantageous because of its reliability and its ability to provide secure, low-latency bidirectional communication, which is essential for ancillary services applications where rapid response is required. Profile B also includes essential reporting features for telemetry and feedback that are necessary for reliable demand response and asset monitoring. Several OpenADR Alliance members participated in the event, which was the first test of XMPP interoperability between OpenADR vendors.
