SAN DIEGO, May 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, announced today it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against ViXS Systems Inc. and ViXS USA, Inc. (together "ViXS"), as it relates to two of Entropic's core home networking patents. The complaint, filed today in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, alleges that ViXS's products infringe upon two of Entropic's patents: U.S. Patent No. 7,295,518, issued on November 13, 2007, and U.S. Patent No. 7,889,759 issued on February 15, 2011. "We believe ViXS is infringing upon two of our core home networking patents, and our action today is a strategic step to protect our intellectual property," said Lance Bridges, senior vice president and general counsel, Entropic. Entropic has a track record of innovation and is recognized for pioneering the MoCA® (Multimedia over Cox Alliance) home networking standard. Entropic has invested significantly over the last decade to develop its technology and to build its IP portfolio, which now includes more than 2,000 issued and pending patents worldwide.
