LAS VEGAS, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Telairity, manufacturers of the industry's best encoders, today announced the debut of Orion, a line of state-of-the-art professional modulators for satellite or terrestrial operations. An Orion unit either stands alone in its own 1RU housing or can be fully integrated into any Telairity 1RU encoder, eliminating the need for separate modulator rack space. The new Orion modulators offer full compliance with DVB standards (including DVB-S/S2 and DVB-DSNG, or DVB-T/T2) as well as both ATSC and ISDB-T standards. Orion 6500 satellite models come standard with QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK, and 32APSK, offering baud rates up to 68 Mbaud to completely utilize a full 72 MHz transponder. Orion 6600 terrestrial models allow DVB-T2/T2 transmitters to operate close to their saturation regions. The announcement was made by Ben Silva, Senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Business Development, at the 2013 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention and exhibition, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The BM6500 Orion stand-alone 1RU system is designed for customers seeking a flexible independent satellite modulator, compatible with a wide range of existing and potential new gear. The BE6500 Orion embedded satellite module can also be integrated into any Telairity 1RU encoder models, such as the versatile BE8500 SD/HD encoder, offering significant savings in satellite truck real estate. L-Band or IF-Band RF output is available with both models The terrestrial model of the Orion modulator similarly comes in two versions: the BE6600 embedded module, and the BM6600 standalone 1RU system. Both terrestrial versions offer best-in-class 5, 6, 7, and 8 MHz RF signals for Terrestrial broadcasting. Orion modulators provide operators with all the technology needed to take full advantage of second-generation DVB-S2 and DVB-T2 capabilities while retaining backward compatibility with first-generation DVB-S and DVB-T standards. Terrestrial models scale as high as 80 Mbps; satellite models offer useful bit rates up to 160 Mbps. Control is over IP via an embedded Web server or via standard SNMP management systems.
