DETROIT, April 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint, a Compuware (Nasdaq:CPWR) company, today introduced a new and enhanced supplier portal that dramatically improves simplicity, usability, mobile accessibility and time-to-value. Automotive and other manufacturers need to share mission-critical business-to-business (B2B) information and applications reliably, securely and in real-time across the supply chain. Connecting more than 80,000 organizations and eight of the world's largest automotive manufacturers, Covisint's supplier portal is the world's leading cloud-based B2B platform for simplifying supply chain collaboration.

The Covisint supplier portal requires only a single identity to access critical OEM content, information and applications while also seamlessly integrating disparate software systems. Specific improvements in the new Covisint platform include dynamic mobile device detection, enhanced content and document management, and more robust and user-friendly search functionality. These enhancements make it easier and faster to respond to the ever-changing demands of effective supply chain management.

Akamai Partnership

Covisint's new partnership with Akamai gives customers access to Aqua Ion web experience solutions, which have been shown to help increase response time by approximately 100 percent. Availability of Akamai's Kona Site Defender solution is designed to strengthen the security layer and make organizations much more resistant to denial of service attacks. As important, the Akamai solutions available through Covisint under the new agreement also enable organizations to run applications "in parallel," meaning that businesses can gradually onboard entire segments of users to an application without overburdening the application or support staffs.

"Covisint has been the leading provider of supply chain connectivity solutions since the company's inception, and these improvements result in a highly collaborative and engaging user experience for OEMs and their global supply chain partners," said David McGuffie, Covisint CEO. "Our Akamai partnership drives the speed of information delivery and value, enabling Covisint customers to deliver deep and quantifiable performance improvements. We will continue to expand our partnership with Akamai to deliver value to our mutual customers. "
