In his proclamation the Mayor noted that Outback Steakhouse has been strongly committed to improving quality of life the communities in which its restaurants and employees live. It goes on to describe Outback's relaxed, friendly and fun atmosphere and praised it for its quality food, outstanding service and as a restaurant that genuinely cares about its guests. Additionally, he acknowledged the company for its work with Operation Homefront and as the title sponsor of the Outback Bowl which has been held in Tampa since 1995. "We have always valued being a part of such a great community here in Tampa," said Jeff Smith, President of Outback Steakhouse. The official proclamation caps off a week full of anniversary celebrations. On Tuesday afternoon, all four of the restaurant's founders, Chris Sullivan, Bob Basham, Tim Gannon and Trudy Cooper, were at the original Henderson Blvd. location to celebrate the success of the restaurant that started it all.
