NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- When we think startups, we generally think tech, Internet, new and social media companies. We don't necessarily think about beer and and other flavors of small business. Fact is -- a startup culture and mentality can drive any organization.

While I work for TheStreet, I consider myself -- me, as an individual -- a startup. I run the business of me like a startup. Or at least I try to because I think the approach best paves the way for the proper mix of success and happiness.

A focus on growth. On fearlessly doing what needs to be done today to seize opportunity and execute the broad vision. An attention to detail. A consideration of the critics, but never letting them throw off your tunnel vision or, worse yet, scare you into paralysis mode.

Apple ( AAPL), Amazon.com ( AMZN) and, the first company we featured on TheBeach Meets TheStreet, Pandora ( P) -- they're all perpetual startups. Likely always will be.

And then there's Capsule, Cuttle, PaeDae, Spreecast and other past and forthcoming guests on TheBeach Meets TheStreet.

How could I forget Demand Media ( DMD)? It's Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Richard Rosenblatt joins us next Tuesday on the program.

Anyway, it's not a company's age that dictates startup status. It's the way it rolls. And it can come in many forms. I love how Jack Sichterman, one of Einstok Beer's co-founders characterized his team as "beer geeks" as opposed to "tech geeks."

When you watch our conversation with Jack, you'll likely appreciate his entrepreneurial spirit. He's building out a business -- in the crowded craft beer space -- with passion and, take it from me, a damn good product.
