Time Warner ( TWX) pushed the Services sector higher today making it today's featured services winner. The sector as a whole closed the day up 0.8%. By the end of trading, Time Warner rose 68 cents (1.2%) to $57.46 on heavy volume. Throughout the day, 10.3 million shares of Time Warner exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 5.9 million shares. The stock ranged in a price between $56.67-$57.85 after having opened the day at $56.67 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $56.78. Other companies within the Services sector that increased today were: Acquity Group Ltd ADR ( AQ), up 37.8%, Information Services Group ( III), up 26.4%, Paragon Shipping ( PRGN), up 18.9%, and Pandora Media ( P), up 17.6%.

Time Warner Inc. operates as a media and entertainment company in the United States and internationally. The company operates in three segments: Networks, Film and TV Entertainment, and Publishing. Time Warner has a market cap of $51.84 billion and is part of the media industry. The company has a P/E ratio of 17.9, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 18.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday. Currently there are 15 analysts that rate Time Warner a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and nine rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Time Warner as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, growth in earnings per share, increase in net income, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures and attractive valuation levels. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows weak operating cash flow.

On the negative front, Bluefly ( BFLY), down 21.2%, FreeSeas ( FREE), down 10.3%, Envoy Capital Group ( ECGI), down 9.8%, and Luna Innovations ( LUNA), down 9.4%, were all laggards within the services sector with Carnival Corporation ( CCL) being today's services sector laggard.

For investors not wanting singular stock exposure, ETFs may be of interest. Investors who are bullish on the services sector could consider iShares Dow Jones US Cons Services ( IYC) while those bearish on the services sector could consider ProShares Ultra Short Consumer Sers ( SCC).
