(Nasdaq:CPRX), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel prescription drugs targeting rare (orphan) neurological diseases and disorders, is pleased to announce today the appointment of Bernardino Mosquera, M.D. as Vice President of Clinical Operations. Dr. Mosquera will be responsible for the operational oversight of Catalyst's clinical trials and the management of collaborations with clinical service providers such as clinical research organizations (CROs) and central laboratories. For the past three years, Dr. Mosquera has been managing his own clinical research consulting company. As an independent consultant, he was involved in trials for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and stroke medications for a multinational pharmaceutical company and several biotech companies. Prior to his independent experience, he spent five years, first at Amgen, then as a dedicated contractor for Amgen, on a number of phase III trials in the oncology area. Prior to joining Amgen, he was with Kos Pharmaceuticals up until its acquisition by Abbott where he was involved in all aspects of clinical trial management for two Phase III trials for a hyperlipidemia treatment. This experience included CRO selection, site selection, vendor management, creating all study documents, IRB submissions, trial management, and CRA management.
