By the end of trading, Cheniere Energy rose 34 cents (1.6%) to $21.50 on light volume. Throughout the day, 2.9 million shares of Cheniere Energy exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 3.9 million shares. The stock ranged in a price between $21-$21.56 after having opened the day at $21 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $21.16. Other companies within the Energy industry that increased today were: Gasco Energy ( GSX), up 9.1%, Northern Tier Energy LP Class A ( NTI), up 8%, Endeavour International ( END), up 7.8%, and Global Geophysical Services ( GGS), up 6.5%.

Cheniere Energy, Inc., an energy company, engages in liquefied natural gas (LNG) related businesses. Cheniere Energy has a market cap of $5.14 billion and is part of the basic materials sector. Shares are up 13.4% year to date as of the close of trading on Friday. Currently there are two analysts that rate Cheniere Energy a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and none rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Cheniere Energy as a hold. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, impressive record of earnings per share growth and notable return on equity. However, as a counter to these strengths, we also find weaknesses including deteriorating net income, weak operating cash flow and generally higher debt management risk.

On the negative front, GMX Resources ( GMXR), down 18.4%, BMB Munai ( BMBM), down 11.1%, Clayton Williams Energy ( CWEI), down 9.9%, and NuStar Energy L.P ( NS), down 6.9%, were all laggards within the energy industry with ConocoPhillips ( COP) being today's energy industry laggard.

For investors not wanting singular stock exposure, ETFs may be of interest. Investors who are bullish on the energy industry could consider Energy Select Sector SPDR ( XLE) while those bearish on the energy industry could consider Proshares Short Oil & Gas ( DDG).
