Unum Group, together with its subsidiaries, provides group and individual disability insurance products primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom. Unum Group has a market cap of $6.65 billion and is part of the insurance industry. The company has a P/E ratio of 7.6, below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 16.1% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday. Currently there are seven analysts that rate Unum Group a buy, no analysts rate it a sell, and nine rate it a hold.

The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its impressive record of earnings per share growth, compelling growth in net income, revenue growth, attractive valuation levels and notable return on equity. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company shows low profit margins.

On the negative front, MPG Office ( MPG), down 18%, Royal Bancshares of Pennsylvania ( RBPAA), down 8.9%, National Bank of Greece ( NBG), down 7.9%, and Central Federal ( CFBK), down 6.7%, were all laggards within the financial sector with Fifth Third Bancorp ( FITB) being today's financial sector laggard.
