NYSE Euronext Inc. (NYX): Today's Featured Financial Services Winner

NYSE Euronext ( NYX) pushed the Financial Services industry higher today making it today's featured financial services winner. The industry as a whole closed the day down 0.4%. By the end of trading, NYSE Euronext rose 54 cents (1.5%) to $36.13 on light volume. Throughout the day, 2.6 million shares of NYSE Euronext exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 5.1 million shares. The stock ranged in a price between $35.45-$36.15 after having opened the day at $35.53 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $35.59. Other companies within the Financial Services industry that increased today were: Manhattan Bridge Capital ( LOAN), up 7.3%, Security National Financial Corporation ( SNFCA), up 4%, Intervest Bancshares Corporation ( IBCA), up 3.5%, and Arlington Asset Investment ( AI), up 3.4%.

NYSE Euronext, through its subsidiaries, operates securities exchanges. It operates various stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NYSE Arca, Inc., and NYSE Amex LLC in the United States; and five European-based exchanges that comprise Euronext N.V. NYSE Euronext has a market cap of $8.56 billion and is part of the financial sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 19.1, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 11.7% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday. Currently there are four analysts that rate NYSE Euronext a buy, one analyst rates it a sell, and seven rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates NYSE Euronext as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance and largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company has had sub par growth in net income.
