The stock ranged in a price between $30.61-$31.11 after having opened the day at $30.62 as compared to the previous trading day's close of $30.47. Other companies within the Real Estate industry that increased today were: Altisource Residential Corporation ( RESI), up 23.7%, BRT Realty ( BRT), up 7.3%, Stratus Properties ( STRS), up 7.2%, and Institutional Financial Markets ( IFMI), up 5%.

Weyerhaeuser Company, a forest products company, grows and harvests trees, builds homes, and manufactures forest products worldwide. It grows and harvests trees for use as lumber, other wood and building products, and pulp and paper. Weyerhaeuser has a market cap of $16.46 billion and is part of the industrial goods sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 52.4, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 9.5% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday. Currently there are two analysts that rate Weyerhaeuser a buy, five analysts rate it a sell, and eight rate it a hold.

TheStreet Ratings rates Weyerhaeuser as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, revenue growth and reasonable valuation levels. We feel these strengths outweigh the fact that the company has had somewhat weak growth in earnings per share.

On the negative front, BRE Properties ( BRE), down 4.8%, Dupont Fabros Technology ( DFT), down 3.7%, China Housing & Land Development ( CHLN), down 3%, and InnSuites Hospitality ( IHT), down 2.8%, were all laggards within the real estate industry with Digital Realty ( DLR) being today's real estate industry laggard.

For investors not wanting singular stock exposure, ETFs may be of interest. Investors who are bullish on the real estate industry could consider iShares Dow Jones US Real Estate ( IYR) while those bearish on the real estate industry could consider ProShares Short Real Estate Fund ( REK).
