Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that its ACKtiv Nuclear Joint Venture (comprised of Jacobs, Carillion and Atkins) received the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA) Estate Supplier Award for “Best Example of Innovation by a Large Company,” for a project at Sellafield Limited in the United Kingdom. The award recognizes the joint venture for its development of an innovative method for safe removal of protective cementitious grout work on the Isolations and Risk Reduction Project at the Sellafield site. The remotely operated solution enabled critical pipe isolation work to be conducted safely and effectively. Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Irvin stated, "We are very pleased to be selected, along with our joint venture partners, for this highly prestigious award in recognition of our nuclear clean-up work in the UK. The award reflects Jacobs' long standing commitment to continuous improvement in the safe delivery of high-quality projects for Sellafield." The annual Estate Supplier Award recognizes excellence in the NDA Estate Supply Chain through contributions to the UK’s nuclear decommissioning and clean-up mission. The NDA is a non-departmental public body that owns 19 nuclear sites and the associated civil nuclear liabilities and assets of the public sector in the UK. The NDA is responsible for the decommissioning, clean-up and restoration of these civil nuclear facilities. Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical, professional, and construction services.
