Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) today announced that Washington Gas Energy Services'WGES PA WindPower renewable energy product is now Green-e Energy certified. Washington Gas Energy Services (WGES) is part of the growing network of renewable energy providers that offer products certified by Green-e Energy, North America's leading certification and verification program for renewable energy. “The new PA WindPower product is an excellent addition to WGES’s renewable energy portfolio,” said Alex Pennock, manager of Green-e Energy. “Now households and businesses in Pennsylvania have even more opportunity to source their electricity from 100 percent home-grown wind power.” WGES PA WindPower is available to households and businesses located in Pennsylvania, and sources from 100 percent Pennsylvania wind power. WGES customers will support currently available renewable resources, fostering growth of the program that will aid in the development of new renewable resources in the region. In 2011, WGES won a Green Power Supplier of the Year Award in the non-utility category from the U.S. Department of Energy. “At WGES we strive to provide meaningful, innovative and sustainable clean energy options to all consumers,” said Harry Warren, president, Washington Gas Energy Services. “This Green-e Energy certification underscores our commitment to offering renewable energy products that enable homeowners, organizations and businesses to take the necessary steps toward improving the environment and creating healthier communities.” Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in North America, with nearly 300 participating vendors selling over 30 million megawatt hours of renewable electricity and renewable energy certificates in retail transactions in 2011. The program provides independent, third-party certification to ensure that certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer-protection standards. Providers of Green-e Energy certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements. All marketers of Green-e Energy certified products undergo an annual third-party verification audit to document that the company purchased or generated enough quantity and type of renewable energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims.
