CarMax Reaches New 52-Week High (KMX)

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- CarMax (NYSE: KMX) hit a new 52-week high Thursday as it is currently trading at $38.37, above its previous 52-week high of $38.32 with 431,810 shares traded as of 10:26 a.m. ET. Average volume has been two million shares over the past 30 days.

CarMax has a market cap of $8.65 billion and is part of the services sector and specialty retail industry. Shares are up 1% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.

CarMax, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as a retailer of used vehicles in the United States. It also sells vehicles that do not meet its retail standards to licensed dealers through on-site wholesale auctions, as well as sells new vehicles under franchise agreements. The company has a P/E ratio of 20.8, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.

TheStreet Ratings rates CarMax as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its solid stock price performance, growth in earnings per share, increase in net income, revenue growth and reasonable valuation levels.
