NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Vivus (Nasdaq: VVUS) is trading at unusually high volume Tuesday with 9.8 million shares changing hands. It is currently at two times its average daily volume and trading down 49 cents (-3.3%) at $14.38 as of 3:46 p.m. ET.

Vivus has a market cap of $1.38 billion and is part of the health care sector and drugs industry. Shares are up 2.5% year to date as of the close of trading on Monday.

VIVUS, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, is developing therapies to address obesity, sleep apnea, diabetes, and male sexual health. Its lead investigational product, Qnexa, has completed Phase three clinical trials for the treatment of obesity.
