NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- United Rentals (NYSE: URI) hit a new 52-week high Friday as it is currently trading at $48.78, above its previous 52-week high of $48.56 with 715,632 shares traded as of 12:01 p.m. ET. Average volume has been 2.5 million shares over the past 30 days.

United Rentals has a market cap of $4.44 billion and is part of the services sector and diversified services industry. Shares are up 5.3% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday.

United Rentals, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as an equipment rental company. It offers approximately 3,000 classes of equipment for rent to customers comprising construction and industrial companies, manufacturers, utilities, municipalities, homeowners, and government entities. The company has a P/E ratio of 63.9, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
