As the Aristocrat Group Corp. (OTCBB: ASCC) works to prepare its new super-premium vodka for the marketplace, the company’s timing couldn’t be better. U.S. sales of super-premium vodkas, which typically retail around $30 a bottle, have risen 32 percent in the last two years to $1.2 billion, according to industry trade group the Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS). That growth outpaced the booming vodka sector overall, which accounts for nearly a third of all distilled spirits sold in the U.S. Super-premium brands such as Grey Goose, Belvedere and Ciroc saw a jump in sales of 12.7 percent, despite the difficult economic circumstances. “Vodka, and super-premium vodka in particular, has proven to be altogether recession-proof in the last few years,” said ASCC CEO Cindy Morrissey. “Quality new products are very well-received in this segment, and we anticipate competitive sales right out of the gate once our product hits store shelves. “Consumers are reaching for products at a higher price point even at a time when the economy is sluggish,” she said. “We anticipate an even larger jump in sales once economic growth begins to ramp up in earnest.” Super-premium vodka will be the first product offering from ASCC’s new brand management division, Aristocrat Brands, which is following the lead of industry leaders such as LVMH.
