U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls Rise 171,000 in October; Jobless Rate 7.9%

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The U.S. work force added 171,000 jobs in October; the unemployment rate was 7.9%, the Labor Department said Friday.

The consensus was for nonfarm payrolls to rise by 125,000, according to Briefing.com, with the unemployment rate ticking up to 7.9%.
