(NYSE:PRI), the largest independent financial services marketing company in North America, announced that it will host approximately 2,500 representatives from across the West Coast for its first annual “Freedom Tour.” The event, sponsored by the company’s African American Leadership Council (AALC) will be held on November 3rd at the Pasadena Civic Center, 300 E. Green St. in Pasadena, California, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Tickets for $15 are available at the door the day of the event. The event will focus on the great opportunities that exist to educate middle-income African American families about how to better prepare for a secure financial future. African Americans are an increasingly upwardly mobile demographic as evidenced by a 64% increase in households earning $75,000 or more between 2000 and 2009 and today have an estimated buying power of some $1 trillion, yet when asked in a recent survey if financial services companies effectively engage and show support for the black community, 78% of African American respondents answered no. Los Angeles resident, Primerica Senior National Sales Director and AALC member, Lawrence Walker said, “Almost 80% of African Americans say they are either way behind or haven’t even started saving for retirement. Primerica has more than 90,000 representatives and we do a great job of meeting face-to-face with Main Street families in their homes. The goal of the Freedom Tour is for Primerica’s African American leaders to have a forum in which they can mentor, motivate and speed up the learning curve for everyone in attendance, both current and prospective new representatives. Another important part of the meeting is to recognize and reward the success of Primerica African American leaders for their outstanding business accomplishments. The AALC was founded by Primerica in 2000 and was created to recognize and promote leadership among the company’s African American representatives. Currently the AALC has some 70 members, earning between $200,000 and $1 million annually.
