The platform also includes tools that are well suited to manage the increasingly social nature of mass participatory sport, such as a suite of group management features that allow friends to register for events in teams and social media plug-ins which allow race directors and participants the ability to share and promote their activities. Held annually the first Sunday in May, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour is America’s largest recreational cycling event. The event provides participants the unique and fun experience of biking through all five boroughs – a 40 mile, traffic-free ride for 32,000 cyclists. The Tour is co-produced by Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation. The 2013 Tour marks 36 years of this family friendly event since its inception in 1977. Event registration details will be announced at a later date.
