NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) hit a new 52-week high Thursday as it is currently trading at $136115, above its previous 52-week high of $136100 with 211 shares traded as of 11:26 a.m. ET. Average volume has been 500 shares over the past 30 days.

Berkshire Hathaway has a market cap of $125.12 billion and is part of the financial sector and insurance industry. Shares are up 18.3% year to date as of the close of trading on Wednesday.

Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. is a publicly owned investment manager. Through its subsidiaries, the firm primarily engages in the insurance and reinsurance of property and casualty risks business. Berkshire Hathaway was founded in 1889 and is based in Omaha, Nebraska. The company has a P/E ratio of 1847.3, above the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7.
