From Oceanside, Calif. and Ann Arbor, Mich. to Plano, Texas and Daytona Beach, Fla., team members at Joe’s Crab Shack and Brick House Tavern + Tap locations nationwide worked tirelessly in the fight against childhood hunger throughout September during the annual Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry® campaign. In partnership with their customers, they raised more than $1,000,000 for the program, which connects kids in need with nutritious food while also teaching their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. As a national partner and leading fundraiser for Share Our Strength ®, Joe’s Crab Shack has participated in the annual Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, raising funds through creative promotions and events, since its inception in 2008. During last month’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, Joe’s Crab Shack and Brick House offered customers the chance to donate in increments ranging from $1-$10 in exchange for coupons redeemable for various menu items, including key lime pie, Tavern Wings and Joe's Classic Steampot. Guests also donated to the No Kid Hungry campaign by visiting both brands’ websites, where they received similar online coupons. Adding to those efforts, general managers and staff at various locations also created more than 400 fundraising events – from kickball tournaments and car washes to tailgate parties and poker runs – to help surpass the million-dollar goal. In Sacramento, Joe’s Crab Shack General Manager Guy Carney led his team to raise more than $30,000 in one location by creating an onsite carnival at the restaurant complete with games and prizes.
