U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls Rise 114,000 in September; Jobless Rate 7.8%

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The U.S. work force added 114,000 jobs in September; the unemployment rate was 7.8%, the Labor Department said Friday.

Employers were expected to have added 113,000 jobs to their payrolls in September, according to a Reuters poll of economists. The unemployment rate was forecast to have risen to 8.2% from 8.1%.
