Jamba Juice Company (NASDAQ:JMBA), a leading healthy, active lifestyle company, announced today the results of the company’s summer hiring campaign. In January, 2012 at a White House Summer Jobs+ event, Jamba® committed to hiring 2,500 young people in support of the Obama Administration’s call for more private sector participation in summer youth employment. In response to this call, Jamba Juice® hosted a National Hiring Day in more than 70 stores across the country, resulting in the hiring of nearly 6,000 team members for the May through September summer season. This employment number represents an increase of more than double that of the 2,500 jobs pledged by the Company in January 2012. “I want to thank the team across the Jamba system for their hard work and committed efforts in making our National Jamba Jobs Day and Summer Jobs+ participation a huge success,” said James D. I am pleased that our continued growth allowed us to retain over 10 percent of those new hires for ongoing employment with Jamba.” Beyond the Company’s summer employment campaign, and at the urging of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Jamba established public/private partnerships with the San Francisco-based Treasure Island Job Corps Culinary Arts Center, as well as the Bay Area chapter of the United Way, to develop career enhancement internship programs at the company’s global headquarters in Emeryville, CA. Job Corps interns receive first-hand culinary experience working on the creation of innovative new menu concepts while working side-by-side with Jamba’s product innovation team. Interns also gain valuable skills in teamwork, project management, and communication as they work on critical company projects led by Jamba executives and senior managers.
