Smart Balance Launches New Line Of Milks Tailored To Kids' Nutritional Needs

PARAMUS, N.J., Oct. 1, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Smart Balance has launched the first line of milks specially formulated to support the growth and development of toddlers and children. Smart Balance ® Kids Milks come in three varieties to grow with your child. They're now sold in all Harris Teeter stores, including those in North Carolina—the first state where the product line has been introduced:
  • Smart Balance ® Kids Transitions Whole Milk & Nutrient Blend
  • Smart Balance ® Kids Reduced Fat Milk & Nutrient Blend
  • Smart Balance ® Kids Chocolate Low Fat Milk & Nutrient Blend

"As a parent, I am all too familiar with the struggle to get kids to eat healthfully," said Smart Balance Senior Vice President and General Manager John Becker. "Smart Balance ® Kids Milks provide wholesome milk and a blend of nutrients to give kids a strong nutritional foundation during critical stages of development."

All varieties of Smart Balance ® Kids Milks offer calcium and extra Vitamin D to support strong bones; as well as DHA and EPA Omega-3s to help support brain and heart health with two glasses a day. The milks are produced from cows with no artificial growth hormones.

Transitions Whole Milk is the first milk of its kind with a nutrient blend containing iron, for healthy growth and development, and prebiotics, which support digestion with two glasses a day. The milk is formulated for children aged 12-24 months, for whom many pediatricians recommend whole milk as they transition from breast milk or formula.

Smart Balance ® Kids Reduced Fat and Chocolate Low Fat Milks have vitamins C and E to support active, growing kids ages 2 and up, for whom many pediatricians recommend switching to low or reduced fat milks.
