Celadon Trucking Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Celadon Group, Inc. (NYSE: CGI) announced today that it has agreed to purchase a portion of the operating equipment of Robinson Transport, Inc., based in Columbus, OH. The terms and conditions of the transaction were not disclosed. Celadon’s approach in this transaction is to increase its density in its traffic lanes in and out of the Midwest and reinforce its driver pool. Robinson is a significant provider of truckload shipments in and out of the Midwest, which enables Celadon to fulfill one of its primary goals of increasing its freight volumes and lane density in one of its primary freight lanes. “Robinson is a highly respected truckload carrier that has provided a high level of service for its customers over the years, which is demonstrated by the number of service awards it has received,” stated Paul Will, President and COO, Celadon Trucking. “Their footprint has tremendous potential to supplement our existing business, expand our network coverage and further accelerate our overall growth plans.
