Avis Applauds Steve Stricker For Winning The 2012 Payne Stewart Award

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Sept. 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avis Car Rental today congratulated 12-time PGA TOUR winner Steve Stricker for being named the 2012 Payne Stewart Award recipient. Stricker becomes the 15 th recipient of the award which is presented to a player in recognition of his respect for the traditions of the game of golf, his commitment to uphold the game's heritage of charitable support and the distinguished manner in which he has represented himself and the game through his dress and conduct.

Stricker, 45, of Madison, Wis., last year became an Avis ambassador and since then has been wearing the Avis logo on his shirts and outerwear on the course. He has won nine of his 12 PGA tour titles since turning 40. He has played for the United States in two Ryder Cup and four Presidents Cup competitions, and will again be a part of the U.S. Ryder Cup team next week, as one of Davis Love III's four captain's picks. His charitable pursuits center on children and adults with disabilities and providing them with programs that help improve their lives.
