During production of the musical epic that opens December 25, the cast performed every take of every song live while filming, rather than lip synching to pre-recorded tracks, which is customary with most musicals films. This methodology, championed by the filmmakers, allowed the actors the freedom to adapt their performances and granted them enhanced emotional immediacy. Regal is now hosting the exclusive content online, and beginning Friday, September 21, this exclusive behind-the-scenes footage will be seen on the big screen before every movie playing at Regal Entertainment Group theatres across the country. The film’s Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean) introduces the in-theatre segment to explain to audiences how this creative process is so unique. “Regal recognizes that Les Misérables is a unique and powerful production,” stated Greg Dunn President and COO of Regal Entertainment Group. “The way in which the members of the all-star cast were captured on film sets this movie apart. The actors are filled with energy, spontaneity and vitality similar to witnessing a live performance, with all of the added production values of a major Hollywood production. I’m certain that fans of this extremely talented cast will come to our theatres to see the amazing behind-the-scenes segment and these breathtaking performances.” “We’re so pleased that Regal has partnered with Universal to present audiences this extended first look at Les Misérables,” said Nikki Rocco, President of Distribution of Universal Pictures. “This never-before-seen footage offers moviegoers a fascinating introduction to the film’s epic scope and demonstrates the immediacy that the cast delivers in their performances. We know that audiences will enjoy this first look at Les Misérables and look forward to giving them the perfect gift on Christmas Day.” Regal’s extended first look at Les Misérables is now available at: http://youtu.be/wwgQjfg0hZwLes Misérables is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27 th year.
