IPC The Hospitalist Company Acquires Three New England Practices

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq:IPCM), a leading national hospitalist group practice company, announced today that it has acquired three related hospitalist practice groups: Omni Medical Diagnostics, PC, operating in Fall River, Massachusetts; Nexis Healthcare, Inc., operating in Taunton, Massachusetts; and Park Medical Associates, LLC, operating in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The three practice groups have a combined annualized volume of approximately 65,000 patient encounters. Omni, Nexis and Park are all located in New England states where IPC already has an established presence.

Scott Wilson, M.D., co-owner of the three practices, commented, "IPC provides us the financial, management and technology resources we need to maximize our growth opportunity and provide high quality care to the hospitals we serve. Given the increasing demands being placed on local practices by hospital systems, plus the uncertainties hospitalists face in today's healthcare environment, joining forces with IPC is the smart move for local practices such as ours."

R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC The Hospitalist Company, stated, "We are very pleased that these three hospitalist groups have selected IPC as their practice partner. In this era of healthcare reform, smaller hospitalist groups increasingly view IPC as the right next step for growing their practices as they seek new ways to more fully engage and better align with their hospitals."
